Hamrour Abderrahmane (“Tahar”) worked within major petrochemical companies. He was the president of Sonatrach Refining and Chemical Group as well as the president of the National Committee for Petrochemical Development dependent on the Ministry of Oil. He was in charge of Scientific and Industrial Cooperation and Partnership with oil companies such as OPEC and negotiated with major contractors such as Bechtel, Foster Wheeler and others.

He was president of Energy Raw Materials and Technology Committee and a member of Conseil National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), a member of United Nations Conference on Science and Technology applied to Development, a member of the OAPEC experts Committee for R&D development and biotechnology valuation, a member of IGU (International Gas Union) Committee for Industrial Gas Use. He also was a head of African States Summit Preparatory Conference in Lagos (Nigeria) 1980.

Tahar spoke at many National & International seminars and conferences related to Industry, Hydrocarbons, Science and Technology developments and International Cooperation (North-South and South-South).

Tahar is a graduate of the Algiers Polytechnic English School where he obtained a higher diploma BS in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, a DEA in Energy Economics and PhD in Petroleum Economics at the French Petroleum Institute (IFP). He speaks Arabic, French and English fluently.
